RemoteGATE
A Nuxt 3 port of a platform for managing remote plants and mobile routers: several companies on one system, role-based users, protected access, installable as an app.
The context
RemoteGATE is a web platform for keeping an eye on remote plants and the mobile routers that connect them. The previous system had to be replaced: the job was to rewrite it in Nuxt 3 while keeping the existing services, and to document the project for whoever maintains it next.
The approach
The application is multi-tenant: several companies on the same system, each with its own plants and users, across three user levels. Sensitive operations check the role again on the server. Sign-in uses JWT tokens and bcrypt-hashed passwords, with a cap on failed login attempts, password change and recovery by email.
For mobile routers the platform manages devices, certificates and logs. The interface uses Pinia for persisted state and Tailwind CSS, and installs as a PWA. Nitro APIs talk to PostgreSQL and to the system's services, reached over a VPN.
The outcome
A script prepares the build, which is deployed with Docker Compose on the production server. The repository also collects notes, meeting history and the documentation for development and deployment.
